Safety Slogan Competition

The Office of Life Sciences is sponsoring a Safety Slogan Competition which is open to all students and staff working in the Centre for Life Sciences (CeLS). The aim of this competition is to engage all occupants of CeLS in a safety drive and to identify a catchy slogan that can be prominently displayed throughout the building, constantly reminding everyone of the need to be safety conscious. Drainage Work

CeLS had experienced flooding at level 1 on three occasions whenever there was a heavy downpour. The Office of Estate Development has since addressed the situation by constructing a drain at the rear of the building to divert the rain water away from the building. We hope that this will prevent future flooding.

OLS Renamed LSI

With effect from 1 April 2008, the Office of Life Sciences will be redesignated as the NUS Life Sciences Institute (LSI) .

With the streamlining of the function, LSI will now focus on continually supporting research in the life sciences as well as looking into setting new directions and programmes. One major change arising from this is that the administrative function of grants co-ordination will be transferred to the Deputy President (Research & Technology) Office, possibly from July 2008. In the interim, we will continue to coordinate both the BMRC and NMRC May grant calls.

Please note that with the change to LSI, its programmes/joint appointments/initiatives need to be in line with the existing Research Institutes /Research Centres practices. All staff who are currently employed under these Programmes will be officially transferred to LSI “711”, the new department code.

We look forward to working closely with the various Programmes as we enter into a new chapter.
